Calisthenics is a Team Performance Sport unique to Australia combining the elements of singing, dancing, ballet, gymnastics and apparatus work. Team participants learn routines choreographed to music and present these routines on stage at competitions and concerts. Pupils learn four to six routines throughout the year.
Calisthenics encourages physical development, social interaction. co-ordination, confidence, assists in developing fine and gross motor skills, strength, flexibility, self-discipline and team spirit. But most importantly making friends and having fun.

The word 'calisthenics' comes from the Greek words 'kallos' for beauty and 'thenos' for strength. Indeed, whilst the components of our sport aim to achieve these physical attributes, it also aims to support the emotional and social development of girls and boys through friendship and teamwork.
